The Whangaparaoa Chelsea Cup team recorded a win and a loss in their latest round 5 & 6 matches.

Both matches were played last week with a strong win versus Mairangi Bay on the Monday night and a narrow loss to Brown’s Bay on Friday night.

Alex Hamilton continued his recent strong form with two singles wins, including a straight sets win against highly ranked Ashkay Ashok (Brown’s Bay). Regular team member Freddie Cashmore-Chatwin was unavailable for last week’s games and because the Chelsea Cup rules this year dictate that an under 18 years of age player must play in each match, 14 year old Harrison Smith made his Chelsea Cup debut. This was a fantastic experience for one our junior members and Harrison was not overawed by the occasion.

Our Chelsea Cup team now sits in third place on the table, but just 1 point ahead of the teams in equal 4th position.

The final round of the regular season will be held this Friday night (24th March), versus top ranked Campbells Bay, at the Whangaparaoa Tennis Club from 6.30pm. Please come and support the team as they try and achieve a top 4 position, which will see them qualify for the semi final playoffs.
