Updated message from the Club President dated 23 March 2020

In the Prime Minister’s announcement this afternoon, the alert level across New Zealand will have been raised to Level 4 by midnight on Wednesday evening.

This has further implications for the Whangaparaoa Tennis Club.

With immediate effect, access to both the Clubhouse and Courts is prohibited, to both members and the public.

The clubhouse and courts will remain closed until at least the 23rd April, 2020 or until further notice, inline with directives, from the Government.

The club committee deem this action necessary to ensure the club is seen to be fully compliant with the need to promote physical / social distancing as the country enters 4 weeks of lockdown.

Clubhouse key holders will no longer unlock the building, and gates to the courts will be chained shut.

Hopefully, this action will play a small part in containing the virus so our community can return to normal life sooner rather than later.

We will keep you posted of any further developments as they become known.

Stay safe and be kind.

Alf Sayer
WGP Tennis Club President
