Ladies Day – 2018

DSC_0016

Another successful Ladies Day drawn doubles tournament was held at Whangaparaoa Tennis Club on Sunday 6th May 2018.

A full field of entrants enjoyed a wonderful day’s tennis, along with great food, fun and a lot of laughter.  Drizzle at the start of the day did not dampen the mood, and matches continued throughout the day, finishing in time for drinks and dinner.

The organising committee of Sandy Spence, Karen Shields, Francee Thornton, Julie Moodie, Verkonika Cox and Sarah Mayo did a wonderful job of organising the event, and the day went off without a hitch.

We are indebted to Larry Cross, our Club Patron, and Bryan Barrett, Life Member, for their time and expertise in running the draw, and entertaining us with witty quips during the day.  Also the team of handsome men who were on hand in shifts throughout the day, helping with morning tea, rolling lunch, a delicious dinner and of course manning the bar.  Grateful thanks also to the Vets Club who made their courts available for the day, making a total of 10 courts which allows us to run a tournament for 64 ladies.

This tournament is so generously supported by our sponsors who donated fabulous prizes, allowing us to have prizes to award to winners and runners up, as well as spot prizes at the end of the day.  Special thanks needs to be given to:  You Travel Manly (Trish Ryder), and Eat Cake  (Kerry Morris, cake artist)
