Another successful Ladies Day drawn doubles tournament was held at Whangaparaoa Tennis Club on Sunday 1st May 2022.
A big field of 54 entrants enjoyed a wonderful day’s tennis, along with great food, fun and a lot of laughter. The weather was perfect with warm, still conditions for the entire day.
The organising committee of Sarah Mayo, Francee Thornton, Sandy Spence, Karen Shields, Lynda Murdoch & Ani Wood did an outstanding job promoting and organising the event, and the day went off without a hitch.
Thanks this year go to Steven Lay who stepped in as the tournament director, pairing up the players and running the draw throughout the day. It is no small task, to organise the timing of over 80 games and Steven did a fantastic job. Thanks also the team of handsome men who were on hand in shifts throughout the day, helping with morning tea, rolling lunch, a delicious dinner and of course thanks to Bryan Barrett & Simon Crampton for manning the bar. Grateful thanks also to the Manly Park Seniors Tennis Club who made their courts available for the day.
This tournament is so generously supported by our both members and the wider community, who donated fabulous prizes. Most notable this year was the sponsorship of Haydn & Rollett, who donated a $500 travel prize, won by Marg Ellis .
