Another successful Men’s Day drawn doubles tournament was held at Whangaparaoa Tennis Club on Sunday 16th May 2021.
A solid field of 40 entrants enjoyed a wonderful day’s tennis, along with great food, fun and a lot of laughter. The weather was perfect with warm, still conditions for the entire day.
The organising committee of Sarah Mayo, Francee Thornton, Sandy Spence, Karen Shields, Cheryl Barrett, Veronika Cox, Ani Wood & Kerry Morris did an outstanding job promoting and organising the event, and the day went off without a hitch.
Once again, huge thanks to Larry Cross who did his usual fantastic job, as the tournament director, pairing up the players and running the draw throughout the day.
Thanks also the team of gorgeous women who were on hand in shifts throughout the day, helping with morning tea, rolling lunch, a delicious dinner and of course manning the bar.
Despite Larry’s best efforts to ensure that no player wins the famed toilet seat more than once, Peter Nieuwenhuyzen upset Larry’s plans and won Men’s Day for the second year running! Peter was most ably supported by Craig Blackwood who played solid tennis all day.
