The Whangaparaoa Tennis Club enters teams in the Tennis Northern Senior Interclub Competition, which is comprised of 24 tennis clubs across the North Shore & Rodney areas
The Tennis Northern senior interclub competition runs from September to April, with a Christmas break from mid-December to mid-January.
Teams are split into grades of between 12-14, playing round robin matches every other week.
Tennis Northern Interclub changes from 2016
Due to the increased numbers participating in the week night Doubles Interclub, there will be no Ladies Singles on Thursday evenings, all Ladies Singles matches will be played on Wednesday evenings.
The freeing up of courts for Thursday evenings means the Whangaparaoa Club is now able to field teams in the Doubles Interclub played on Thursday evenings, the club registration form has changed for players to register their interest in participating in this event.
Thursday evening Doubles Interclub consists of four men or ladies playing two matches each, start time is 7:00 pm. Matches are the best of two 7 point tiebreaker sets, with a 10 point third set super tiebreaker if required.
Weekend Interclub will also see a change to the 3rd set rule, this season instead of a full 3rd set unless all players agree on a super tiebreaker it will be reversed to a super tiebreaker unless all players agree on a full set. So if any one player requests to play the tiebreaker a tiebreaker must be played.
