Mens Day – 2016

Another successful Mens Day drawn doubles tournament was held at Whangaparaoa Tennis Club on the 15th May 2016. The day dawned in bright sunshine & despite some light drizzle in the afternoon, the field of 44 men enjoyed a great day of tennis.

Thanks go to Larry Cross & Bryan Barrett for their expertise and hard work in organising the tournament and to Larry for running the draw, so expertly.

Thanks also to all the women who did all the fabulous cooking – morning tea, lunch and a fantastic roast dinner & dessert.

We are very appreciative of our wonderful sponsors KGA Accountants Warkworth (Jacqueline Ironside) and You Travel, Manly (Trish Ryder) for their generous sponsorship of the event.

Thanks to all the visiting players from around the country, who played in the 2016 Mens Day Tournament. Many of you have competed in this event for a number of years and we are very appreciative of your continued support. This year we had players from

Whangaparaoa Veterans Tennis Club – 4
Clyde / Central Otago – 3
Christchurch – 1
Ngatira / Auckland – 1
Kaipara / Warkworth – 10

Thanks also to Rosco Yeager, who organised a “closest to the hole” chipping competition, which provided some extra fundraising and plenty of laughs.
