Jonathan Speed

Jon coaches because he enjoys seeing his players rapidly progress. His goal is to help players reach their maximum potential and develop a lifelong passion for Tennis.

He believes the behaviors learnt from Tennis (such as: Respect, Work Ethic, Strategy, and Competitiveness), assist his players to succeed not just on the court, but in other areas of their life too.

Court Lab was selected as the name of his coaching business, as Jon is highly qualified, and his team will implement scientific, methodical and the most effective coaching methods. Jon has learnt from the best coaches in the world that the most successful approach to running a coaching program is to put our players first.

Jon is highly committed to professional development, which is evident by the number of qualifications and seminars he has achieved/attended in the last 5 years.

Nicolas (Nico) Martin

Nico, who hails from Belfort in the North-East of France, studied Physical Education at the nearby University of Franche-Comté in Besançon before gaining his coaching credentials through Tennis Ligue, the local tennis federation. After that, he coached predominantly junior tennis for several years at locations around France, including Barberaz, Prémanon, and Les Rousses.

In late 2015 Nico travelled to New Zealand on holiday. In early 2016 he found work with an Auckland based group of professional tennis coaches. It was via this link, once they heard earlier this year that he was available, that Whangaparaoa Tennis Club sought to secure Nico’s services to support longtime Head Coach Ken McLeod.
